The California Costumes Sexy Swashbuckler has earned approximately 4.4 out of 5 stars from about 1,870 Amazon ratings, making it one of the more thoroughly vetted pirate costume options available. That volume of feedback provides a useful real-world picture of what to expect at this price point.
Get the Sexy Swashbuckler Pirate Costume on Amazon
At $36.83, this costume sits in the sweet spot for Halloween shoppers who want a recognizable, pulled-together look without spending triple digits. The substantial review count also means you can browse customer photos to see how the costume actually fits on different body types—a significant advantage when shopping online for fitted costumes.
Amazon's fulfillment means Prime members can take advantage of fast shipping, which matters when you're shopping closer to Halloween or need a costume on short notice.
What You Actually Get for $36.83
Before purchasing, verify the exact components included in your specific listing. Amazon costume listings sometimes combine variants, so the included pieces can vary. Check the product description carefully to confirm what arrives in the package.
This falls into the sexy costume category, meaning it's intentionally revealing and form-fitting by design. If you're shopping for a particular dress code or event, review the listing photos and customer images to gauge coverage and length.
Shoes, props, jewelry, wigs, stockings, and other accessories typically are not included unless explicitly listed in the product description. Budget accordingly if you want to complete the swashbuckler look with boots, a hat, toy weapons, or jewelry.
Sizing and Fit: What 1,870+ Reviewers Say
Fit feedback varies among reviewers, which is common for costume sizing. Rather than ordering your usual clothing size automatically, compare your bust, waist, hip, and height measurements against the size chart provided in the listing.
Customer photos offer valuable insight into how the costume fits different body types. Browse the review section for images from buyers with similar measurements to get a realistic preview. Some reviewers note the costume runs small or large, reinforcing why checking measurements matters more than assuming your standard size will work.
The form-fitting design means precise sizing becomes especially important for comfort and the intended look.
Setting Realistic Expectations for Costume-Grade Construction
This is costume-grade construction, not everyday apparel quality. At $36.83, you're getting a Halloween costume designed for temporary wear at parties and events, not a garment built for repeated use or durability.
Reviewers generally value the costume for its appearance and the overall look it delivers. Fabric quality and accessory durability receive less consistent feedback, which is typical for this price category. If you need a costume that will last through multiple events or withstand active wear, adjust your expectations accordingly.
The construction is appropriate for standard Halloween party use, photo opportunities, and themed events where you'll wear the costume for several hours.
Accessories You'll Need to Complete the Swashbuckler Look
To achieve a full pirate captain appearance, plan to add:
- Footwear: Knee-high boots or boot covers (not included)
- Hat: Tricorn or pirate captain hat (typically sold separately)
- Props: Toy sword, telescope, or other pirate accessories
- Jewelry: Hoop earrings, layered necklaces, or costume rings
- Optional additions: Wig, bandana, belt, stockings, or other finishing touches
Budgeting $20-40 for accessories will give you flexibility to customize the look. Check Amazon's "frequently bought together" section on the listing for compatible add-ons other buyers have purchased.

The California Costumes Sexy Swashbuckler offers solid value at $36.83 for shoppers who want a recognizable costume with substantial social proof. The 4.4-star average from approximately 1,870 reviews indicates most buyers found it met their expectations for a costume in this price range.
